“An Rón Dall” (The Blind Seal) is a true story taken from William Hamilton Maxwell’s book ‘Wild Sports of the West’ published in 1832 which documented his experiences and stories travelling through the west of Ireland. It was one of these stories that inspired artist Dara McGee to put together a visual show recounting the fate of a domesticated seal at the home of a local fisherman at Renvyle, Connemara. This is a reportedly true story about the seal, his owner and all the people that were involved. The highly visual show uses music, storytelling and live art to tell the tragic story of The Blind Seal.
An Rón Dall will be performed in Áras Inis Gluaire in Bellmullet as part of the Culture Night 2015 programme at 8-9.30p.m on Friday 18th September. You can expect an evening of live music, storytelling and art so make sure to come along.
